What is Cessationism?

Cessationism is the belief that the end of the Apostolic age brought about an end to the miraculous gifts of the spirit. It is not necessarily the belief that God does not perform miracles in the modern day, but that He no longer uses specific people to do so. Cessationists believe that miracles are intended as signs to verify new messages, rather than being regular occurrences, so not every age will have miracle workers.
