God makes foolish the wisdom of the world

According to Richard Dawkins, Charles Darwin, the main founder of the modern Evolutionist religion, "made it possible to be an intellectually fulfilled atheist". Whereas once atheists could only dream of being able to explain the natural world without God, now they can point to Evolution. Of course, Evolution is 50 shades of bonkers, but nevertheless, it seems to have taken hold of all of academia. As Evolutionists frequently point out, 99% of scientists believe in Evolution, and the few that don't are not always especially supportive of Christianity. So, what do we do with this?

The first thing to remember is that this has been the pattern of things for thousands of years. Mankind has been coming up with all sorts of weird and wacky ways to oppose God pretty much since Adam and Eve first decided God was being mean and deceptive by withholding the fruit of the forbidden tree from them. Are we to believe that we've finally got it right?

Of course not. The very same being who tricked Eve into taking the fruit is continuing to trick the unsaved (2 Corinthians 4:3-4). But there are groups who are especially likely to be taken in by Satan. The "wise, scribes and disputers" mentioned in 1 Corinthians are all very educated people. Thus, it is not the first time in history that a large human institution has called themselves educated, and yet made a pig's ear out of it.

This is rather deliberate on God's part. He is well known for winning with the deck stacked against His people. Shepherds take down giants. Tiny armies obliterate large cities. A little baby boy can grow up to die on a cross, completely conquering death. Are these not far greater victories than if every battle, be it of strength or of wit, was predictable?

For as long as the earth endures, pure Christianity will be a minority among scholars. There will be wise men who bow before the manger, but there will always be a much bigger crowd of scribes screaming "crucify!" Thus, when anti-Christian philosophies dominate academia, this should neither surprise us, nor faze us. When all is said and done, no flesh shall glory in His presence.
