Thrice restored

When Jesus and Peter met after the resurrection, there was a betrayal to account for. Three times, Peter had denied Jesus. "I don't know Him, I don't know Him, I don't know Him". Well, Peter did know Him, and the rooster reminded him of that very harshly.

But the cross was specifically designed for reconciliation, and so Jesus did not condemn Peter. Rather, just as three times Peter denied Christ, three times Christ restored him, not only allowing him to affirm his love, but also placing him in a leadership role feeding the sheep.

We're all sinners. Would you do any better? Perhaps you would. Maybe you're one of many brave Christians throughout history who would follow Christ even if it costs you your life. Of course, Peter eventually did too. But let's be honest, there have been times throughout all of our Christian lives when we have also denied Christ. But just as He restored Peter, He can and will restore us. Do you love Him? Do you love Him? Do you love Him? Then do what He has purposed for you. Feed the sheep, grow the fold, expose wolves, obey the voice of the shepherd.
