The sad thing about atheistic apologetics is that it is plagued with some of the most senseless jokes, memes, and other forms of humor that humans can come up with. We often hear God compared to werewolves and unicorns, we hear Him called "sky Daddy" or "sky fairy", Jesus is called a "cosmic zombie", and let's be honest, few atheists can resist the whole "talking snake" slogan. And this isn't just the trolls. Some of the most popular atheist apologists out there will use silly mantras like this.
And do you know what? That's absolutely fine. One day, you'll either repent of these things, or you'll pay for them, but none of that falls on me, so why do I care what sort of jokes you make? As long as you're still being somewhat reasonable, throw in a joke or two and I'll happily continue a dialogue. But here's the thing: Two can play at that game. If you can make jokes about Christianity that demonstrate a complete lack of study, believe I will throw a jab back at what you believe. I will talk about magical explosions, I will talk about slime turning into dinosaurs, or monkeys turning into men. I will talk about frogs becoming princes, and my friends, if that bothers you, you are a hypocrite.
Humor is a very important part of being human. I know these are some serious topics, but we're not robots. Frankly, we need to laugh every so often. And of course, satire is an effective rhetorical tool. Well-made satire will illustrate a point in a way that is memorable, and convincing. In all honesty, I love it when atheists try to satirise Christianity because in doing so, they prove they can't do it. They must twist some element of what they are satirising before it becomes funny.
But again, Christians can respond in kind. You don't get to horde all the humor, and frankly, if you want all the jokes for yourself, but can't take one back, that says a lot about your attitude. It says you want Christians to have a perfect understanding of Evolution, and display that perfectly at all times, but you are not willing to understand Christianity to any reasonable degree, nor to express that understanding. The irony here is that you don't even have a God to believe is above reproach, yet you still act like you do!
Of course, the real God really is above reproach. You can poke fun at Him while He is restraining Himself, but a time will come when you will die, and you will face Him, and He will show no restraint. But the amazing thing is, not only is He restraining Himself, but He also put Himself in a position to endure the scorn of man. You think "sky daddy" is offensive, imagine how it felt when Christ hung on the cross, "He healed others, but cannot heal Himself!" etc. That's quite a lot of mockery endured by a man who could have summoned a legion of angels to wipe out His attackers. But no, He endured the cross. Why? So the very people who mocked Him, and still mock Him today, might receive eternal life! You're here mocking Him, and He offers you a kingdom!
Those who mock Christianity very rarely have a deep enough understanding of it to do so effectively. Most atheist jokes come across as weird as mocking Dara Ó Briain for his affro. Most of them are of the impression that Christianity is just a boring list of dos and don'ts, or that it's about hating people who don't believe it, or that you just have to be a good person and God will let you into Heaven etc. But it's not like that at all. Rather, Christianity is about a Holy God reaching out to unholy men.
Blasphemy is but one sin we commit. On its own, it's enough to merit His wrath, but we've done so much more. None of us are worthy of Him. But He still wants us. Thus, He put in place a plan. The Son became flesh, and died a death He didn't deserve, because we deserve it. Because He faced the wrath we are owed, we no longer need to. We can be declared righteous, though we are not, if we just repent, confess Jesus as Lord, and believe in our hearts God raised Him from the dead. I don't think that's an offer worthy of mockery.
