Blessed are the believers

When Jesus proved His resurrection to Thomas, He told him "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (John 20:29). On the flip side, you have the Israelites, who 3,400 years ago saw and did not believe.
It is a tragic fact that we live in a world where faith and reason do not correspond in the way they probably should. Whether we've seen a lot of God, or only a small amount, it seems that walking by faith and not by sight sometimes goes further than just believing God can overcome any troublesome circumstances and bring about good from evil.
Obviously, for us as Christians, faith is 90% of what we have. We don't see flaming pillars, splitting seas, miraculous plagues, fire raining from the sky, or resurrections. But although God doesn't seem to be in the business of doing that anymore, we do have more than enough evidence for these things. Christianity is a reasonable faith, and what a blessing it is to believe in that which we have not seen. Though we do not have the privilege of personally touching the scars of the Lord, we do have the honor of knowing that one day, if we overcome, we will be His children, and He will be our God.
