Where does the Bible say "Jesus is God", in those exact words? The exact words criteria is a frustratingly illogical standard by which heretics and heathens alike attack Biblical doctrines, such as the Trinity.

The first irony is that those who use the exact words criteria to attack Biblical doctrines are thoroughly opposed to it when it comes to their own doctrines. When the Bible clearly doesn't say what they want it to say, especially when it clearly says the opposite, they claim you have to read between the lines. Yet when it comes to the Trinity, suddenly the Bible has to say the exact words "Jesus is God". To refute this silly argument, simply point this out. Where does the Bible say (insert description of one of their beliefs here) in those exact words? You can even go the full 10 miles and ask them where the Bible says Jesus isn't God, in those exact words? They won't find it, so they will have to resort to twisting other statements.

Once you've got them off the idea that the Bible ought to restate the same doctrine a million times just to cover every possible way to say the exact same thing, you can confidently explain that no, the Bible does not say "Jesus is God" in those exact words, but it does make the conclusion inescapable. There are many things the Bible says about Jesus that you don't even have to be well versed in Hebrew culture to immediately know it claims He is God.

For example, who else can this describe? "All things were created through Him,

and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created." It doesn't take a Phd in philosophy to know that if you say "this guy created literally everything that exists", you are talking about God. And yet, the prologue of John 1 is clearly talking about Jesus. If John did not want us to believe Jesus is God, why does he attribute the entirety of creation to Him?

Well it's obvious isn't it? Jesus was a carpenter, see. So when John says without Him nothing has been created that was created, what he really meant was that if you found a wooden structure in ancient Israel, Jesus made it. Right? That's the only way I can think that a heretic would justify Jesus being the Creator of all things without being the Creator of all things, and as you can see, it's quite insane. So is Jesus God? John certainly seemed to think so.

There are many other places in the Bible where Jesus is ascribed an attribute, or even claims it for Himself, that belongs only to God. The Bible does not say "Jesus is God", in those exact words, but with all the things it does say, it may as well. When you read the Bible without specifically intending to rule out the Trinity, the Trinity is inescapable.
