One of the most dastardly lies told by Evolutionary apologists is that Evolution and science are synonymous. If you reject Evolution, that is somehow equal to rejecting science, and so, in order to defend Evolution, all you need to do is show that how science has benefitted humanity. This lie is particularly despicable, because not only is science common ground for Creationists and Evolutionists (or, at the very least, it should be), but it is actually ground created by Creationists in the first place!
A great many scholars, be they Christian or otherwise, recognise just how important a role Christianity played in the development of science as we know it. Though there were the occasional flashes of brilliance throughout the ancient world (as is to be expected from a species made in the image of Almighty God), Christianity, and Christianity alone, provided the perfect environment for the study of the natural world. It is no coincidence that science exploded immediately following the Reformation. To quote Dr James Hannam, in his book God’s Philosophers: How the Medieval World Laid the Foundations of Modern Science, "Christian theology turned out to be uniquely suited to encouraging the study of the natural world because it was believed to be God’s creation."
Hannam is not the only science historian to recognise the unique role Christianity played in the development of science. In truth, the majority of them do. Why, then, is it seen as logical to defend Evolution by defending science, as if science itself was ever under attack? Simple: Because Evolution is the attacker.
See, prior to certain events, almost every scientist was at least somewhat Christian. Some were orthodox, some were heretical, but most of them saw their role as "...thinking God's thoughts after Him" (Johannes Kepler). But then, a particular people group invaded the field: Misotheists. Charles Lyell was particularly effective. Seeking to, in his words, "free the science [of geology] from Moses", he came up with his principle of "Uniformitarianism". That is, the idea that the present is the key to the past.
As is now increasingly acknowledged, however, Lyell also sold geology some snake oil. He convinced geologists that because physical laws are constant in time and space and current processes should be consulted before resorting to unseen processes, it necessarily follows that all past processes acted at essentially their current rates (that is, those observed in historical time). This extreme gradualism has led to numerous unfortunate consequences, including the rejection of sudden or catastrophic events in the face of positive evidence for them, for no reason other than that they were not gradual.
The above paragraph is not actually my own. I have employed what I like to call the "silent quote". (Silent quoting is the strategy of temporarily plagiarising a source your opponent would normally trust in order to expose their bias). The above paragraph is actually from an Evolutionist named Dr. Warren Allmon. Allmon, here, exposes the philosophy that allowed Evolutionists to hijack science. Not by honest and rational methods, but by rejecting any and all evidence that fits in with the Biblical account of history. If there is evidence for Noah's flood, for example, it is thrown out, because it is far more convenient for atheism to believe things like the grand canyon were formed by a little bit of water, and a lot of time, than that God once flooded the Earth as a judgement against sin.
But He did. And contrary to the narrative, there is evidence of it. Far stronger evidence than Evolution and the like have ever had. But as a matter of fact, the flood is effectively a picture. It shows us God's hatred for sin, but actually shows us how to avoid a similar fate. We have our own "ark", and a "flood" is coming for us. Jesus Christ will judge the earth, and He Himself is the only way to be saved. See, we're all sinners. We all should have drowned in that flood. Yet, in His love, God sought an alternative. Jesus became incarnate in human flesh, and died, receiving in Himself the full punishment for sin. Then, beyond all imagination, He rose again. If you will only confess Him as Lord, and believe He rose from the dead, you will be saved, and granted eternal life. Let the God who created the heavens and the earth in 6 days grant you eternal life. Don't let atheopaths like Lyell argue you into Hell.
