Destroy the myths, not join them

It's becoming increasingly popular for Christians to, in whole or in part, accept Evolution and long ages as a fact of science, which must be used to interpret the Bible. Creation, the flood, and the Tower of Babel are usually completely ignored, being seen as little more than poetry.

Peter predicted this in the third chapter of his second epistle. Speaking especially of the last days, he says “For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water." - II Peter‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭NKJV

How can you willfully forget these things if they never happened? Why would this be used to deny Jesus' return (v4) if they were never intended to be believed? The truth is that Genesis 1-11 are just as true as the rest of the Bible, and just as historically accurate as the rest of Genesis, and Peter really wanted us to know this, being fully aware of the fact that sinful human beings are willing, and able, to twist the word of God at any given time.

Whether professional apologist or the dude who sits at the back on Sunday morning, the Bible is a very important book with a very important message. Everyone should know it, and no one should distort it.
