Don't play genie with God's word

While there are a huge variety of genies in various fictional works, they all have two things in common. 1: They grant three wishes. 2: They don't do it exactly as the master wishes. A master may wish for a flashy sports car, and before he knows it, his dream car appears... in his hand, as a toy. He may say "I want a hot bird" (bird being British slang for woman), and rather than taking the slang into account, the genie could drop a roast chicken on the guy's plate. He may wish for tonnes of money, and he may get it, but the genie won't protect him from the tax man.

God is our Master, and we owe Him far more than just three wishes. We owe Him our complete obedience, and He has given us His will in the form of a book: The Bible. Unfortunately, many of us try to play genie with the Bible. We try to do God's will without doing God's will. In genie lore, it is always the master who suffers the ill effects of the genie twisting his words, but with God, this isn't the case. When we mess with God's words, we are the ones who suffer. God doesn't need to be careful what He asks us to do because He has perfect control over everything. You can't hurt Him, you can't rob Him, you can't ruin His life or teach Him any lessons. But you can hurt yourself, rob yourself, ruin your own life and in the process, you can learn much, or even refuse to learn. Don't play genie with God's word. Not only is it sin, but you're only hurting yourself.
