Eve and the single origin of the human race

The single origin of the human race is a needlessly controversial topic. Scripture makes it quite clear that we are descended from just one man, and one woman. This is so even from the very beginning, when Adam gave his wife her name. "Eve", because she was to be the mother of all the living.

This reality is also consistent with the observations of modern science. Even some of the most hardcore Evolutionists are faced with the so-called "mitochondrial Eve". Mitochondrial DNA strongly suggests that all women are descended from just one woman, and the high mutation rate is consistent with the Biblical timeline. Of course, Evolutionists will dispute this timeline, but these disputes are based on Evolutionary assumptions.

The single origin of the human race is a biblical and historical fact, which is at least partially corroborated by science. As Christians, we need not compromise the word of God with the word of sinners. Adam was the first man. Eve was the first woman. We are all their biological descendents. This needn't be so controversial.
