Modern society puts a lot of stock into opinions. In the name of "tolerance", a diverse array of weird and wacky beliefs are shielded from criticism, and ironically freedom of speech is quickly being taken away in its name. But the truth is, opinions do not deserve respect. People do.
Absolute truth exists. A statement cannot be both true and false in the same sense at the same time, and therefore any statement outside of one's own personal preference is either true or false. Even statements based on our own preferences are actually absolutely true in one sense. If I say "lemon ice cream is the best", it is absolutely true that I prefer lemon ice cream above all other flavors. It is not, however, absolutely true that lemon ice cream is the best.
Opinions mean nothing. If they're right, great, but they're not right just because they're your opinions. Your opinions just happen to align with current reality. If they're wrong, you're entitled to remain wrong, and deal with any consequences that come from that, but the fact is you are wrong, and you have no right to tell others that they cannot criticise or disagree with you. Ultimately, you can't change reality with opinions, so you might as well change your opinions to align with reality.
