God isn't unfair, you're ungrateful

There was a time when there was no such thing as a human being. There were no animals, there were no plants, there was no land, no sky, no sea, there was nothing except God. Time itself did not exist. So to what did He have to answer? Nothing.

But 6,000 years ago, there was something other than God. God, for His own pleasure, spent 6 whole days creating the heavens and the earth. He had no instructor, He had no overseers, He had no employers, no bosses what so ever. Again, to whom did He answer? Nothing and no one.

The thing about creation is that a creator is never bound to his creation, but rather the creation is bound to him. You are aware of this fact just by reading this article. Your device, whatever it may be, is a creation. Mankind is not beholden to our technology, our technology was designed for our purposes, and we may do with it whatever we so desire, up to and including destruction.

Human beings are the pinnacle of God's creation. We are the very image of God upon it, created to obey and relate to Him. Unfortunately, we don't perform that function very well. We reject God, and commit to imitating the devil instead. For this reason, God has as much of a right to destroy us as you have to throw away a coffee mug that fell and smashed into many pieces.

But God, in His mercy, sees us as more than just a broken coffee mug. He loves us enough to take the punishment for sin on our behalf, and so anyone who believes in Him can be forgiven and receive eternal life instead.

But some people don't like that. Some people ask why God requires faith to save them from sin. Some people ask why God doesn't just save everyone. Why doesn't God show Himself to everyone? Why can God forgive heinous sins because the sinner has faith, but not the small sins of an unbeliever? Some people even find it repulsive that they should need forgiveness in the first place. Because how dare God create us for purposes other than our own?

All of these excuses are just that: Excuses. It is the creation rebelling against the Creator, being offered the chance to be repaired, yet rejecting that offer. It is the mug complaining about being repaired because that same mercy is not offered to the clock.

Just as we can do as we please with our creations, so also can God do as He pleases with us. We have no rights apart from God, and God owes us nothing. Only what He has promised does He owe us, because He is a man of His word. He has promised us forgiveness of sins if we only believe, and so if we believe, He will give us that. But He doesn't owe us another deal. There is no room for negotiation, no room for debate, and no hope for those who reject His one and only offer.
