Hands, stop hindering the feet

1 Corinthians 12 is a passage I really wish I'd had in the early days of my faith. Having converted from Evolution, I was quite keen to spread the evidence against it. A number of Christians took issue with this, however. Not just Creation compromisers, like Theistic Evolutionists and Old Earth Creationists, but even "Young" Earth Creationists would often tell me that I was too focused on the issue.
To be sure, it is possible to go overboard. You can allow apologetics to overwhelm your personal faith, and although Genesis is foundational to the Gospel, it should never replace the Gospel. But if someone is gifted at speaking against Evolution and defending Genesis, that is the gift God has given them.
The thing about the Church is that we are a body. We aren't just a floating eye without an ear, or a floating hand without a foot. Our hands may not be covered with clothes, but few Christians will think it appropriate to leave the house in only our underwear. All of the above is a paraphrase of Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 12.
Even the most single-issue ministries often leak into other issues, but becoming a jack of all trades usually results in becoming a master of none. Single issue ministries help convert large numbers of single issue seekers, as well as edify single issue believers. We all have our place in the Church. No one should seek to force a hand to be a leg, nor an eye to be an ear. If you see a Christian doing the Lord's work, support them where you can, do not hinder them at all, even if, especially if, their ministry differs from your own.
