Hell: God's gorilla cage

Hell is never a nice topic to talk about, and indeed why should it be? It is the ultimate punishment for sin, and the aim of a punishment is to be hated. But even Hell shows us how much God loves man. Why? Because it was not made for us. Man was never designed for Hell, nor was Hell designed for man. Rather, Hell was designed for Satan and his angels.

One might make the analogy that Hell is sort of like a zoo. No man was intended to live in a gorilla cage, nor were gorilla cages designed to hold men. But if need be, a cage designed to hold a gorilla would most likely hold a man. In the same way, an eternal prison designed to punish demons can be used to punish man.

The fact that Hell was not designed for man ought to tell us a lot about God. First, it should tell us that He loves man. Hell wasn't designed for man, Heaven was. We were built to have fellowship with Him, not to be cut off from Him forever. More importantly, this should motivate us to spread the Gospel far and wide. Hell was not designed to receive men, but it has already received many, and will receive many more.

You don't have to go to some foreign country to preach the Gospel. Every time you step out of your house, you are on a mission trip. In fact, as technology evolves, you are lucky enough to not even need to step out of your house. Your family, your friends, your co-workers or fellow students, even that guy you only added so you could send each other lives back when Candy Crush was still a thing, these are all people who are dearly loved by God. So loved that not a single one of them was designed to go to Hell. But they were designed to be redeemed. To have a restored relationship with God by Christ's sacrifice on the cross, and by His exit from the tomb. They need to know that, they need to believe that, and if they still go to Hell, let that not be because we failed to give them that message, but because they failed to accept it.
