How do I know I'm really saved? This is a question we all ask. Will we actually make it to Heaven? After all, we all sin, so is it possible we'll get to God's courtroom and find out actually, we're too evil for Heaven?
My friends, let me tell you this: You were always too evil for Heaven. God's standard to dwell with Him has always been absolute perfection, and for as long as we live in the flesh, we will never be able to claim that. Christ alone succeeded there. If you are reading this and you are not Jesus, you failed.
But do you believe in Jesus? I'm not just talking about the intellectual assent that He existed (even demons do that), do you believe that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, died for your sins, and rose again? If you do, good news: You have everything you need to inherit eternal life. But not just to inherit it. Jesus actually says you already have it. If you believe in Jesus Christ, you have eternal life.
One thing I always like to say to encourage people is that the fact you are having these doubts proves that they are not worth having. Look at the world. Does an unbeliever worry about being condemned by God? Of course not. If they did, they wouldn't be unbelievers. And there are many Christians out there who bear the name, but not the fruits. Do these people, who are so indistinguishable from unbelievers that they actually defend their wickedness, fear condemnation? Of course not. Their view of God's holiness is so low, they think He will accept them just because.
But you? You're worried about Hell. This shows you understand the severity of sin. You know that it merits His wrath, and so you fear that, as a sinner, you will receive it. But the anguish you feel at having committed it demonstrates your faith. Continue to repent. Just because you have a secure ticket doesn't mean you get to sin. In fact, that attitude may prove the opposite. But if you believe, you are a child of God, and so are guaranteed to enter His presence justified by the blood of His Son. Your sin has been paid for, and so now the only judgement you will endure is the testing of your good works. Build on His foundation with precious stones and metal, and Heaven will be a glorious experience for you.
