I just had a very strange dream. Unlike every dream I've ever had, it actually made sense. I was sitting by a stream discussing Transubstantiation with a Catholic. And the words I was saying not only flowed far more eloquently from my mouth than I am able in real life, and far more human-friendly than I have ever presented any case, but so perfectly mirrored the case I put forward when I think and write that it's almost like I was conscious. At the end of the discussion, the Catholic said to his friend (also a Catholic), "man, I wanted to go to this dude's house ready to fight, but what he's been saying to me makes sense." And his friend asked if I'd say it to him too. But I woke up. So, I've decided to try to re-create in this article what I said beside that stream.
"From the beginning, I have found Transubstantiation abominable. Nevertheless, I do see why Catholics have a different perspective. Jesus does say "this is my body", and there are Christians throughout history who, regardless of their actual beliefs, at the very least seem to have taken Him literally. Here's the problem: Everyone who takes it literally knows, by instinct, that He wasn't speaking literally. You've been taking the Eucharist for how long now?" (He replied 18 years, which he laughed and walked back because he was 18, but we just rolled with it). "Ok, so 18 years. Now, every time you've put it in your mouth, you know it's just bread and wine, right?" (He nodded). "Ok, so you know it's not really true. And I'm not saying you're a liar, don't get me wrong. See, I know you'll say I've just got to have faith. And that would be absolutely fine with me. I'm a Christian, of course I believe you need faith. The only problem with that is that if Transubstantiation was true, it would be the only miracle God ever performed that you can't visually confirm."
And that's when his friend showed up and I woke up before I could explain it. So I just wanted to put it into this article. I have to say, I am astonished at this dream. I've had debate dreams before, yet what I say is always as unintelligible as you'd expect from a dream. This time, I not only possessed a presence of mind that persisted until now, but also people skills I have never had in dreams or in real life, and even the ability to speak clearly. One might say I can refute Transubstantiation in my sleep.
