Inaccuracies in our nativity scenes give us cause to study

The Nativity scenes we have become so familiar with at this time of year are often riddled with inaccuracies. A lot of those inaccuracies centre around the wise men. It is often assumed that there were 3, which is possible, but there could very easily have been more. On top of that, Matthew 2:11 tells us that they found Jesus in a house, yet Jesus was born in a stable. In other words, the "three" wise men weren't even there at first.

These little inaccuracies are trivial, but they should make us think. Perhaps we have other errors in our minds, some not so trivial. There is no substitute for an honest, diligent study of the word of God on a regular basis. Let the wise men be an encouragement to us, to seek the growth of our own wisdom.
