It's amazing how God cares

In the grand scheme of things, nothing we suffer is really worth anything. Think of it as the vaccinations you likely received as a child. At the time, you probably didn't understand what was going on. Your own parents, upon whom you depended, seemed to be against you. But now you don't even remember. The pain is long gone, and let's be honest, now you know the truth, you're better off for it.

I may be wrong, but I doubt I have anyone older than 100 years reading this article. That being the case, in just 100 years, you will have been in Heaven longer than you have lived. By that point, and indeed long before, nothing in this life will be any more significant to you than those vaccinations. You will have gained spiritual good from your time here, but you won't remember the pain.

When we consider this, it's amazing that God cares at all what goes on here. He could have just settled for the bare minimum. It could be as simple as just giving us the Gospel, then leaving us to decide whether or not we want to accept it. If God had desired, He could have let the devil off the lead and turned His back.

But no, God cares what happens in this life too. There's not one tear you've ever cried that God has not paid attention to. And He delivers us from most, if not all of these trials. Even if He doesn't, even if we have an incurable disease, even if we spend forever in poverty, even if we are martyred for the faith, the payoff is unbelievably skewed in our favour. That's the God we serve, my brethren. Not a distant and angry slave driver, but a close and loving Father. From dawn until dusk, we have a God who pays attention to every minute detail. Is He not so unbelievably worthy of praise we simply wouldn't ever be able to give Him?
