Christians face a large number of objections to our faith. We face arguments from history, from science, even from maths, and yet, when all is said and done, it is significantly harder to persuade the heart than the mind. There is no shortage of moral arguments launched against Christianity. And yet, so many of these attacks are against the Christian, not against Christianity.
The truth is, while Christians do (or at the very least should) come to agree with God more as we grow in our faith, none of us actually wrote the Bible. And it's not like we get to choose which parts of it we like and which ones we don't. Like "oh, the Bible says love God? That's a nice command, I'll obey that. But the Bible also says love your neighbour? Oh... but I don't really want to..." This just shouldn't happen. It does, I'm not going to lie. There are too many Christians who pick and choose which parts of the Bible to believe. But faithful Christians do not just pick the parts of the Bible they like and oppose the rest of it.
Therefore, when the Bible says something you don't like, and a Christian also says the thing you don't like, the Christian isn't being a bigot, the Christian is being faithful. But unbelievers fail to understand this fact. When confronted with Christian morality, they behave as if the Christian made it up, and as if convincing the Christian they are wrong will somehow make the belief incorrect. To put it another way, using a secular argument against Christian morality is the moral equivalent of saying because I don't like the fact that falling from a certain height will inevitably kill me, therefore I can fly.
Ultimately, God is the judge. If the Bible says "thou shalt not...", and you say to a Christian "but what about this, that, and the other...", it doesn't matter. Even if you can convince the Christian that your way works better than God's way, God is still going to judge by His laws. You won't stand before me on Judgement Day. It won't be my standards you're judged by. It will be His.
This is terrible news, but in God's great mercy, He has given us a way out of it. Jesus Christ stood before God in judgement as if He was us. He took the punishment we deserve for our sins, and so we can receive the reward He deserves for His lack thereof. There is one caveat. This free offer is open to all, but will not be received by all. Repent and believe. Confess that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. Then, and only then, will you be saved.
