In an Evolutionist’s mind, Evolution is solid science, while Creationism is just a fairy tale that rejects the evidence. As one of their sillier memes states, “we have the fossils, we win”. In reality, Evolution is a lens through which evidence is interpreted. It’s a religious position, not a scientific one.
This can be compared to a murder trial. There are always two sides to a criminal trial: the prosecution and the defence. The prosecution acts on their assumptions. The defence acts on their assumptions. No defence lawyer ever ignores the evidence. Rather, both sides look at the same evidence, and they argue their conclusions from it. If the evidence spoke for itself, you would never need a fair trial. Every trial would be fair. You could walk into the courtroom, the evidence would be produced, and the judge could simply convict or acquit you. No defence needed, and no one could argue that is an unfair trial. But it would be an unfair trial if this actually happened, because facts don't speak for themselves.
To give an Evolutionary example, take soft tissue in dinosaur bones. Both Creationists and Evolutionists are aware that such discoveries are often made, but where Creationists point out that soft tissue has never been shown to be capable of lasting millions of years, and therefore argue the bones can’t be millions of years old, Evolutionists argue that the presence of soft tissue in dinosaur bones means soft tissue must be capable of lasting millions of years, and they have made up several ways they claim this could happen. The starting assumption (called an axiom) is used to interpret the evidence. The facts don't speak for themselves. People must speak for them.
As I have pointed out before, scientific facts can be demonstrated to people regardless of their pre-existing biases. Anyone can perform the same experiment over and over, yielding the same result every time. But no one can perform an experiment on Evolution. It cannot be shown to you. Not even once. Therefore, Evolution cannot be reasonably classified as science.
