Let's be honest: Hell isn't a nice topic to talk about. Nobody wants to think about the damned being punished forever. But though it is an unpleasant thought, it is entirely true, and something we absolutely should be preaching about.
As I scrolled through Facebook one day, I came across a post that certainly agreed. It showed a man in Hell, with the caption "We tried to warn you, but you said: 'Don't judge me' Isaiah 30:9-11". This is actually quite a powerful message, especially to someone wise enough to turn to Isaiah 30:9-11, which clearly condemns the whole "don't judge me" attitude. But, as you can see by the screenshot in the header image, at least one Christian took issue with it. Apparently, "this kind of teaching has no love for the Lord in it". Why? Because it's "legalistic", and "causes fear", so we should "let people taste and see that the Lord is good."
Uno problemo: Jesus taught about Hell. In Mark 9:43-44, for example, He says "If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched— where ‘Their worm does not die And the fire is not quenched.’"
Who loves God more than Jesus? Who has more sound doctrine than Jesus? Who has better preaching methods than Jesus? If Jesus taught about Hell, we should at the very least have the decency to let our fellow Christians preach about it too. Hell is nothing to be ashamed of. It is a place God designed for the devil and his angels, and it is also where He will send humans who follow Satan, and that is entirely holy. It is very loving to warn people about that, because otherwise, they might actually go there, and that is far worse than upsetting them while they live. As the saying goes, "I'd rather offend you into Heaven than flatter you into Hell." So, if you love God, and especially if you love your fellow man, preach Hell!
