Mormon prophet: Test Mormonism against the Bible

Brigham Young, the second prophet of Mormonism, once confidently declared that we should compare Mormonism with the Bible. If Brigham Young had taken his own advice, he might be with Jesus right now, but we who are alive now have the ability to do exactly what he said we should do. Since Joseph Smith declared the Book of Mormon the "most correct book", and "the keystone of our religion" (1), we'll use this as the marker.

First, Moroni 8:8 declares "...wherefore, little children are whole, for they are not capable of committing sin; wherefore the curse of Adam is taken from them in me, that it hath no power over them;..." by contrast, Psalm 51:5 states "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” The automatic salvation of infants who die is an inescapable conclusion when reading the Bible, but to claim that the curse of Adam has no power over them is easily disproven in the fact that babies can actually die. Those who live past their age of accountability (which is relative to the individual) demonstrate that they have inherited original sin by sinning.

2 Nephi 5:21 says "And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them." But the Bible never attributes black skin to sin. Instead, it declares that God made all the nations from one blood (Acts 17:26).

2 Nephi 25:23 tells us "...for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do." But "after all we can do" is a Mormon addition. Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us that we are saved by grace, through faith, not by works. Grace doesn't kick in after all we can do, but is instead the solution for the fact that we can't do anything, since even our righteous acts are filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). Romans 11:6 further illustrates the contradiction in 2 Nephi 25:23 by saying "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work." In other words, if it is "after all we can do", it's not grace at all. That's like calling a wage a tip, or a payment a generous donation.

Helaman 14:20, 27 both say that the darkness that fell on the Earth after Jesus died lasted 3 days. Matthew 27:45, Mark 15:33 and Luke 23:44 say that it only lasted 3 hours.

Alma 7:10 declares that Jesus would be born in Jerusalem, but Luke 2:4 (which, in my Book of Mormon, is attached to Alma 7:10 by footnote) and Micah 5:2 both say He was/would be born in Bethlehem, which is 5 miles South of Jerusalem.

These are just a few of the contradictions between the "most correct" Book of Mormon and the Bible. There are several others, as well as contradictions between the other Mormon scriptures and the words of the Mormon prophets. But from these contradictions alone, it's clear that Brigham Young's own test has failed. Mormonism is a false religion, by which many souls have been condemned. If you're a Mormon reading this, I want you to be aware that I am not bashing you. The things I say, I say not out of hatred for you, but out of love for Jesus. You cannot obtain divinity from the teachings of Joseph Smith, but you can obtain salvation from Jesus Christ.
