Proverbs 3:5: Your "understanding" vs. His word

Fact: God is infinitely more qualified than you. Whether you're a Christian or an unbeliever, the God who created (Genesis 1:1) and upholds (Colossians 1:17) all of creation is in a much better position to know its origins than any other mind in all the world. He has access to all facts (Psalm 147:5), and is incapable of lying (Hebrews 6:18).

What sense does it make, therefore, to claim to believe in God and argue that because those who don't believe in Him come up with the most outlandish fairy tales in an attempt to replace Him, therefore His word must be allegorical, or otherwise in error? If God says 6 days, God means 6 days. If God says He flooded the Earth, God means He flooded the Earth. There really isn't a lot of room for interpretation.

Proverbs 3:5 tells us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts, leaning not on our own understanding. Theistic Evolutionists and Old Earth Creationists are not only refusing to trust in the Lord with all their own hearts, but are also spitting on His word by trusting the understanding of His enemies. A great many of these people are still saved, but as a man who does take God at His word, I have no hesitation in confidently declaring that Old Earth Creationism is antithetical to the Christian faith, and to proclaim such egregious error is to directly blaspheme Him.
