Respect in MMA vs. real life

There's a lot of respect between MMA fighters in the ring. During the fight, they throw all sorts of devastating moves intended to hurt, and ultimately overpower their opponent, but the second the bell signifies the end of the fight, there's all sorts of hand shaking, passionate hugging, even helping each other up if one of them is on the ground. Sadly, we don't see anywhere near as much respect between people of different doctrines, political persuasions, or religious orientations.

This is a tragic state of affairs. If people can go from beating each other to a pulp one second to hugging it out the next, why is it "I disagree, and here's why" is often grounds for serious strife? In a sport fight, it goes from violence to peace, yet in real world disagreements, it goes from peace to violence?

There is no excuse for this in Christianity. We have a God who loves even His enemies, and demands the same from us. Why, then, are we so quick to disrespect our enemies? There is literally no excuse to hate another person in our faith. Let us therefore obey Christ in this: "love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven".
