"Evolution is the dominant religion in several Western cultures. Its first modern prophet, Charles Darwin, was born on February 12th 1809, and because of this, many Evolutionists celebrate Darwin Day on this date. At the same time, many Christians and Darwin skeptics celebrate Question Evolution Day, a day on which special attention is given to exposing the flaws in Evolution.
Ironically, many Evolutionists find the idea of questioning Evolution to be very offensive. But why? If it was real science, it shouldn’t be offensive. If Creationism was really as unscientific as flat earth beliefs, shouldn’t it be treated as such? Unfortunately (or fortunately, whichever way you look at it), Evolution is not science. It cannot withstand honest scrutiny, and that’s why those who question it receive ridicule rather than evidence."
The above was a post on Path Treader Ministries, and of course was posted on Question Evolution Day. The page "Clean Christian Comedy" was kind enough to share it, with mixed results. On the one hand, it encouraged many Christians, who saw that they are not alone in the spiritual war against Satan and his lies. On the other hand, it summoned the horde.
Evolutionists proceeded to prove my point, with an overwhelmingly and aggressively negative response. Sadly, significant numbers of those who were angry with the post were professing Christians, many of whom argued that Evolution should not be questioned because it fits the Bible.
There are several problems with this. First, Evolutionists often brag about the "mountains of evidence" they supposedly have. It shouldn't be hard to provide at least one shred if there are mountains. It should be able to survive questions.
Second, atheists actually don't always disagree with testing all things. In his book "The God Delusion", for example, Richard Dawkins lists some alternatives to the 10 commandments, among which is "Test all things; always check your ideas against the facts, and be ready to discard even a cherished belief if it does not conform to them" (1).
Finally, for the Christians, the post cited Scripture that utterly refutes this idea. 1 Thessalonians 5:21, which tells us to test all things, is no less the word of God than the rest of the Scriptures. So why is testing Evolution a problem? Even if it was compatible with Christianity, which it isn't, test all things doesn't leave much room for interpretation. It doesn't say "test all things, except Evolution." It doesn't even say "test all things, unless you believe they fit Christianity." It says test all things, hold on to that which is good. Therefore, even if you believe Evolution fits the Bible, you must test it, and hold onto it only if it is good.
I put it to everyone reading this post: Evolution should not be immune to criticism. If it's true, it will survive all tests. If it's not true, anyone who cares about the truth should want to get rid of it faster than an aggressive cold. As it stands, Evolution cannot stand the test, and so it should be discarded immediately.
