The great depth of the Bible's shortest chapter

Today, I bring you the entirety of Psalm 117. A mere 2 verses long, Psalm 117 is the shortest chapter in the Bible, and yet it contains so much profound knowledge. "Praise the LORD, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples! For His merciful kindness is great toward us, and the truth of the Lord endures forever. Praise the LORD!"

Indeed His merciful kindness is great toward us. We certainly see this now, in the person of Jesus Christ, but note also just how deep this is. Praise the LORD, all you... Gentiles. This Psalm wasn't addressed to the Jews, who were chosen by God, who knew God, to whom God committed His oracles. It was written to the Gentiles. These were not people chosen by God. He didn't shower them with promises, or gift them with abundant revelations. These were often people directly at war with God. And yet, to them, the Psalm says "Praise the LORD, all you Gentiles (...) for His merciful kindness is great toward us". Even before the cross, even before the wall of separation between Jew and Gentile had been smashed, God loved the Gentiles. He always had a plan of salvation. Salvation came from the Jews, not exclusively for them. There's so much packed into this one tiny Psalm. One more reason to praise Him.
