The hidden motive of Progressive "Christianity"

We often hear it said that we're supposed to be in the world, but not of the world. That is, although we, as Christians, still live on Earth, among sinners, we are not to do as they do. We are here on a mission as ambassadors for Heaven. Why, then, would we act like the children of Hell?

Unfortunately, for many so-called Christians, the answer is "because it feels good". To these people, God just isn't bothered by sin. As the culture drifts in a certain direction, so must the Church. We must either evolve or become irrelevant and die. Conservative Christians, they say, are on the wrong side of history; we must re-interpret the Bible, if it even needs to be factored into our worldview at all. After all, it's not infallible, right? So go ahead, have as many sexual partners as you like, God doesn't even care what gender they are, nor even what gender you call yourself. And if you happen to do things the natural way and this results in kids, you can kill them. In the end, we'll all still go to Heaven, even if we don't believe in Jesus, because He was just a good moral teacher who taught love and inclusivity.

Let's be honest here: All of the above is nonsense. If your god looks too much like you, your god is you, and the god of the progressive "Christians" definitely look like themselves. But if you walk around saying "I'm God", you look even crazier than those who run around claiming to be prophets of God. Furthermore, we all fully understand that reality is beyond our power to control. Thus, we look to things outside ourselves to justify ourselves, but we're delusional if we just make it up. The solution? Tie the stuff we've made up to stuff we didn't.

Of all world religions, Christianity is both the most recognisable and the most credible. It's not something some fringe group just plucked from the air, it's an established faith based on an established historical figure. Of course, it's more than just that. We didn't just select a historical figure at random and decide "hey, this guy is significant". Rather, in reality, Jesus is the Son of God, come to Earth to atone for sin through His death and resurrection. Those who confess Him as Lord and believe He rose from the dead will be saved. The rest will be condemned to Hell.

"But that's too horrible! The God I believe in would never do that..." But let's be honest here, the God you want to believe in would never do that. The God you know exists totally would, you just don't want Him to. So, effectively, you're merely an atheist who can't suppress his Theistic instincts. You want the credibility of God, but you don't want to obey Him.

"But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? Seeing thou hatest instruction, and casteth my words behind thee." (Psalm 50:16-17). With God, it's all or nothing. You don't get to live like Hell and go to Heaven. You don't get to have one foot in the Church and one in the world. You don't get to drink the Lord's cup and from Satan's also. You have to choose. If you choose God, there is no way you can justify fulfilling worldly lusts, even if the entire culture is doing it.

And if you do fulfil those lusts? Well, that just means you're human. We have not yet been perfected, and so we will still sin. Lean on your advocate. But don't imagine He will say to His Father "he did nothing wrong". Instead, He will say "he sinned, charge it to my account, and give my righteousness to him".

Progressive "Christians" do not know God, and as long as they believe rebelling against Him is somehow progress, they never will. But as they progress towards Hell, let us remind them that, at least with their mouths, they claim to know Him. Thus, they should follow Him, rather than their own futile desires.
