The trustworthiness of a resurrected man

Non-Christians, and even pseudo-Christians, are highly selective about when they rely on "expert" opinion. Muslims love their scholars. Atheists love their scientists. Theistic Evolutionists love their scientists, too. And this is a common trend across all humanity, not just the examples cited. But they're quite happy to reject other experts, or even those same experts, when they disagree, because the truth is, it's not about expert opinion, it's about their opinion. So much so that if an expert so frequently disagrees, that is enough to call their expertise into question.

But there are some experts on Theological issues who are more qualified than anyone alive today. Those experts are the witnesses and contemporaries of the Bible. From Moses to Malachi, from Matthew to John, these people all lived either alongside the events the Bible describes, or close enough that their opinions on it hold far more weight than anyone living in the modern day.

Referring specifically to Evolutionists, as that is my own area of expertise, does it not seem slightly odd to anyone that Evolutionists are quick to believe the ever-changing story of men who live today about what supposedly happened millions of years ago, but the consistent testimony of men who lived 2,000 years ago is apparently insufficient to tell us what happened 2,000 years ago? And since I also mentioned Islam, is Paul not more qualified, as a contemporary of Jesus and His Apostles, to tell us what happened in that time than Muhammad, who lived 600 years later?

Of course he is! The Apostles were actually there. They saw Jesus die, they saw Jesus alive after His death, they even went to their own deaths for proclaiming that they saw Jesus. The historical evidence, both within and without the Bible, consistently points us to one conclusion: Jesus rose.

On the day Jesus folded His own grave clothes, Jesus proved once and for all that He really is the God He claimed to be. There is no greater expert than Him. So, just maybe, He's worth listening to? With prophecies before Him, testimonies behind Him, and miracles surrounding Him, I contend Jesus is the one and only authority to whom it is not a fallacy to appeal.

But Jesus' death and resurrection is more than just a sign of His authenticity. It is the very method by which He answers our greatest problem: Sin. Sin is our failure to submit to His authority, the cause of our separation from Him, and ultimately, the just cause for our condemnation. But He is not willing to condemn us, and so in His death, He gave us a way out. He took the punishment we deserve, so that on the day when we are judged, we can appeal to the fact that our debt has already been paid in full. All it takes is faith in His death and resurrection, and the confession of His Lordship. Praise God, for in His unsearchable mercies, He gave us the greatest gift we could never have asked for.
