One of the cleverest ways to deceive people is to manipulate the language, making ideas that would usually be unpalatable to them seem a whole lot more tolerable. No one does this more expertly than the radical Left, who are able to make even the most detestable of deeds seem like the path to utopia.
One such detestable deed is abortion, in which an innocent baby is murdered by a so-called "doctor" while still in the womb, usually because their mothers want the pleasures of sex, but not the responsibilities of motherhood, or even marriage. Most people, knowing what abortion actually does, oppose it. In fact, there are documentaries like the 180 Movie by Living Waters, showing that when abortionists are shown what takes place, they often become pro-life in moments.
So, how do abortionists maintain such a grip on society? Why does our culture seem so asleep, blind to this actual Holocaust occurring right under our noses? Simply because the radical Left are master manipulators. They use deceptive terms, like "pro-choice", even though their view has nothing to do with choice. They emphasise the word "fetus", simply because that is a term people less often associate with babies or children, though a fetus is a baby and a child. They even use the term "terminate the pregnancy".
That last one, I believe, should make it easier to reclaim the debate. See, the word "terminate" simply means "end". But there was a popular movie, entitled "The Terminator", about a soulless murder-bot, sent back from the future to kill a woman whose son would eventually save mankind.
Abortionists are not soulless robots from the future. But they do share one thing in common with The Terminator: They kill the innocent, preventing a brighter future. "Terminate" might merely mean "end", but we need to remind people that what is being ended is a precious human life.
This, of course, is a grievous sin. In fact, as early as the days of Noah, God commanded "“Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God
He made man. And as for you, be fruitful and multiply; Bring forth abundantly in the earth And multiply in it.”" (Genesis 9:6-7). Thus, so-called "doctors" who perform abortions can be grateful that human governments are run by sinners, who always fall short of God's Holy standard in one way or another.
But the thing about that is, we all do. Scripture tells us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, the penalty for which is death. One might say God "aborts" the wicked, casting them into the eternal lake of fire. But scripture is also clear that this brings Him no pleasure. God is so pro-life that no matter how much a person deserves to die, He wants to grant them eternal life. Therefore, He sent Jesus to be born as a man, live a perfect life, and die in our place.
This allows us to effectively "swap verdicts". Jesus, being innocent, suffered the wrath due to us, the guilty, so that we, though we are guilty, may receive His eternal reward as a gift. To claim this, all we need to do is confess Him as Lord, and believe in our hearts God raised Him from the dead. Even the most heinous of killers can be forgiven this way. Those who refuse, however, are left with no option but to receive their own punishment. Don't terminate your hope of salvation: Repent.
