Although Islam has existed for a little under 1400 years, it's only very recently that the Church has attempted to compromise with it. Even now there are very few Christians who will claim Islam and Christianity are the same religion. There are multiple areas in which Christianity and Islam do agree. Islam teaches that Jesus was born of a virgin, Christianity teaches that Jesus was born of a virgin. Islam teaches that Jesus performed miracles, Christianity teaches that Jesus performed miracles. Islam teaches that the Bible is the authoritative and incorruptible word of God (which wasn't wise, but Muhammad wasn't known for his consistency), Christianity teaches that the Bible is the authoritative and incorruptible word of God. There are so many areas in which Christianity and Islam agree, and yet the areas in which we disagree remain areas of disagreement. Few Christians will attempt to explain, for example, why polygamy is better than monogamy, because while Islam teaches that a man can have up to four wives, the Bible clearly describes a loving marriage between one man and one woman as the superior family model.
Why, then, do so many Christians attempt to explain how Evolution fits the Bible? Evolution is just one more man-made religion. It was specifically designed to "free the science from Moses" (Charles Lyell), and intends to help people become "intellectually fulfilled atheists" (Richard Dawkins). There are some good things about it, just as there are some good things about Islam. The problem is, there are less good things about Evolution than Islam, and yet so many Christians attempt to bend and break the word of God until there's a big enough hole for Evolution to squeeze through.
I remember a Theistic Evolutionist I debated once. He suggested that Evolution should be integrated into the Bible because there are many questions that can't be answered, such as why the female hyena has a pseudopenis. But female hyenas having pseudopenises is not a problem for the Genesis account of history in any way, shape or form, nor is it in any way indicative of Evolution. By trying to "solve" the "problem" of the pseudopenis, the Theistic Evolutionist is actually creating a bigger problem. The Bible is so clearly against Evolution that even Theistic Evolutionists very often admit that they think the Bible is simply wrong. Even those who won't admit this will say that the Bible is not meant to be taken literally, admitting that a 6 day creation roughly 6,000 years ago is what the Bible literally says.
As it stands, Evolution is no more of a threat to the Bible than Islam. Both religions are dominant in their respective cultures, but both also lack sufficient evidence to pose any intellectual threat to Christianity. Just as Christians do not need to compromise Christianity with Islam, Christians also don't need to compromise Christianity with Evolution. The Genesis account of history is an entirely legitimate intellectual position to hold, being backed by a wealth of evidence from a number of fields, and of course being the first hand testimony of the infallible Creator Himslef. But if you are going to accept Evolution, you may as well go the full mile and reject the Bible. Consistency is far more respectable than compromise. Once you've accepted Evolution and rejected the Bible, please feel free to follow this ministry, so I can show you why it is better to accept Christianity and reject Evolution.
