The pro-life position is so unbelievably simple that it can literally be summed up in the name. As a pro-lifer, I believe human life is precious, and if the time ever comes to prematurely end it, there must be a very good reason. Many pro-lifers, though in my opinion they are very naïve, do not even support justified killing, such as capital punishment for severe crimes, or even killing in self defence.
But you wouldn't think it if you spoke to abortionists. Because abortion is such an indefensible practice, it takes severely irrational people to attempt to defend it. Therefore, you find stupid arguments like the tweet seen in the header image. Any thinking person can cut through the emotional spiel and realise it has more holes than a sieve.
The first and most obvious flaw is that it's blatantly false. The overwhelming majority of pro-lifers tend to be charitable people. Focusing on one issue is not the exclusion of another. To illustrate this, consider the parable of the starfish. Two men walk along the beach, when they find many starfish washed ashore, slowly drying out and dying. One of them begins picking them up and throwing them back into the water, but his friend says to him "this is pointless. You can't save them all." "I know", the man replies, picking up another starfish. "But I can save this one."
In much the same way, no one can realistically focus on every issue. But just because I "save this starfish" doesn't mean I don't care about the hundreds of other starfish I can't save. I'd love to be able to tackle abortion, poverty, domestic abuse, broken families, and everything else, all in one day. But no one man can do that, and even if society bands together to fight every trouble in their time, they could only really do that if they divided up resources and responsibilities wisely.
But now consider the major difference between abortion and the other issues. Tell me, is it legal to kill a mother? Is it legal to kill orphans, or foster children? Is it legal to kill victims of abuse? These people all suffer from serious problems, but both society and the law recognise these as problems. Abortion, by contrast, is both legal, and socially acceptable. Some abortionists even boast about it, and as shown by the very tweet to which I am responding, they get quite aggressive when abortion is challenged.
I can assure you, if the law ever treated orphans the way it treats fetuses, there would be an equivalent pro-life cause to criminalise the bloodthirsty practice. No one should be allowed to kill a child outside the womb, just as no one should be allowed to kill a child inside the womb. It is a despicable lie from the very depths of Hell to claim pro-lifers only care about life until it's outside the womb, but it would be ridiculous logic even if it was true. What kind of numpty actually thinks "you don't care about these people I'm not trying to kill, so why do you care about these people I am trying to kill?"
In all honesty, it is appalling that abortionists use the weak and downtrodden as an excuse to tread down on the weak and defenceless. As a pro-lifer, I genuinely care about other people. But abortionists only seem to care when they can use them as pawns. Why can't they just say "this is what abortion is, and this is why it's ok"? That's what we've always done as pro-lifers. We've laid our cards plainly on the table, we've always said "this is what abortion is, this is why it's wrong". It's always come down to whether or not abortion ends a human life.
Examples like this are precisely why the pro-life cause is so much stronger. Whereas abortion can only be defended with vicious lies, red herrings, and toxic emotions, it can be attacked in a mere 60 seconds. Show an average person what an abortion is, you can actually catch the moment they become pro-life on camera. It should be clear to any sane individual that this abominable practice needs to end today.
