Religion is seen as such a personal thing these days that to criticise any belief (except, apparently, Christianity) is seen as being anything from just plain rude to outright hate speech. As the Bible puts it, every man is doing what is right in his own eyes.
But the thing about truth is that it tends to not care if you believe it or not. The religion that seems right for you might not be right for you, because actually, it's not right at all. How many people can influence truth with their mind? If you have such incredible power, why aren't you using it? There are homeless people in the streets. Go believe them a house! There are people dying in hospital. Go believe them a cure! There are entire countries gripped with war, poverty, disease, and famine. If your faith is so powerful that merely believing what you believe is enough to make it true, get out there and solve the world's problems just by believing they no longer exist.
But it's not that simple, is it? No matter how hard we believe something, reality remains completely unaffected. If there is a God, there is a God, and no amount of atheism can kill Him. If there is no God, there is no God, and we might as well just believe what we want because we're all about as valuable as the water swirling round the plughole anyway.
The truth is, there is a God, and that God is the Lord I AM of the Bible. He created this world, He cursed this world for sin, He entered this world as a baby through a virgin, He lived a perfect life, He died for your sins. Here's where your beliefs really do make a difference, because faith is how God will divide those who will receive His forgiveness, and those who will receive His wrath. If you believe Him, He will save you. If you don't believe Him, that won't make Hell a single degree colder.
