Atheists often assert that "you can't prove a negative". This, of course, is absurd. We prove negatives on a daily basis. I can prove that the Earth is not flat. This is a negative statement, but it can be proven in a variety of ways. I am not female. This is a negative statement, but it can be proven in a variety of ways. There are no 6 tonne dinosaurs sat on your device as you read this. This is a negative statement, but it can be proven in a variety of ways. The point being not only is it possible to prove a negative, but it is often easy to do so.
On top of this, negative statements are often just the opposite of a positive statement. Though negative, they are solid. "There is no God" is still a solid claim, and thus it requires a defence. To give an analogy, let's imagine someone told you "there is no Brian". That's a rather bold assertion. I may be using a pseudonym, but I am a real person, as is evidenced by this ministry. But this person believes Brian is a myth. My ministry is just a bot that has the ability to form coherent posts on a daily basis. But obviously, "there is no Brian" is an absurd claim. But they say "you can't prove a negative". Are you convinced there is no Brian?
Atheists face the same problem with their beliefs. The first problem is that it's absurd. Even if you rule out the possibility that the Biblical God is the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the heavens and the earth must be accounted for, including the obvious design elements therein. Just as it would be absurd to claim that this post is without an intelligent author, so also is it absurd to claim that the human genome, or any genome for that matter, came about without intelligent design. Just as it would be outright bonkers to claim that no one built Isaac Newton's toy of the solar system, so also would it be pure insanity to claim the real thing is the result of a magic explosion of nothing (because, you know, science is always providing examples of nothing randomly exploding and creating perfect order...).
But let's take a step back. Let's pretend it's perfectly logical to deny the Creator of just about any creation. If you can't prove a negative, why should I believe your negative? What is there to prevent me from following the evidence to God if you can't provide evidence that leads away from Him? What is there to say a logical person cannot accept that which strongly suggests a god exists if atheists can't find anything to even weakly suggest the opposite? If atheists make the claim that "there is no God", they ought to be prepared to prove it. Otherwise, they're simply making a blind faith statement. How ironic.
