"He was different, He was Heaven sent and for this they took His life. But in the end, He rose again, His name was Jesus Christ!"
There are people in this world who will tell you the song from which those lyrics were taken is secular, even demonic in nature, and that it glorifies sin. Why? Because it is a rock song. The song is "screamed" more than sung, to the sound of drums and electric guitars. The band, Holy Soldier, even have the typical hairstyle that would commonly be associated with rock bands at the time. And because of that, many Christians who dislike rock music impose their personal tastes onto the genre, declaring it immoral.
But is this really true? Are Holy Soldier glorifying sin with their music? Let's ask John: "By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God," (1 John 4:2).
The lyrics of Holy Soldier's "Stranger" won't be found in any secular music. The song not only speaks of Jesus' ministry on Earth, but brags about the very thing that saves sinners from the wrath of God: His death and bodily resurrection! According to John, every spirit that testifies to this truth is of God. Holy Soldier, therefore, are of God. The spirit of their music is of God. The guitars don't matter, the tune doesn't matter, the dumb hair (sorry guys) doesn't matter, these men are Christians glorifying God through one of His most amazing creations: Music. Therefore, any Christian who claims they are glorifying sin is declaring unclean what God has declared clean. Rock music isn't sin, but imposing your personal tastes on God, adding to His words and using these things to judge His servants are.
