According to Evolutionists such as Richard Dawkins, the human eye is badly designed, therefore it is more likely that it evolved over generations, rather than being designed by God. According to Dawkins, the retina is backwards. In his own words, "The ‘wires’ connecting the photocells to the brain run over all the surface of the retina, so the light rays have to pass through a carpet of massed wires before they hit the photocells. That doesn’t make sense..." (1)
Oh, but it does! The reason the nerves couldn't go behind the eye is because that's where the oh so vital choroid is. The choroid provides blood to the retinal pigment epithelium, which is essential to the regeneration of photoreceptors and the absorption of excess heat from the light.
Ophthalmologists have known this for a very long time, so Dawkins and the other Evolutionists who make this claim, really have no excuse. But they try to get around this by pointing to cephalopods, which do have eyes wired in the way Dawkins says ours should be. However, there's a reason these animals aren't known for their good eyesight. They can't see nearly as well as we can. Specifically, they're colorblind!
But even if cephalopods could see just as well as we can, the fact is we can, in fact, see. Our eyes work perfectly for the purposes for which they were designed. Even if cephalopods could see exactly as well as we can, you wouldn't exactly line up outside doctor's surgeries to swap your eyes out for an octopus's. So why do Evolutionists make this claim? One which can only be made out of ignorance of ophalmology? Because such ignorance is all they have. If every argument for "bad design" was thoroughly refuted, Evolutionists would resort to complaining that we only have two hands and no cup holders. It's not about evidence, it's about railing against our Creator.
