Whenever mass shootings occur, Leftists tend to blame America's gun laws, but history tells a different story. Gun control didn't start to sink its greasy little claws into America until 1934. But even before then, mass shootings in America were rare. Since then, gun control has increased, but so have mass shootings, which became much more frequent around 1984. 2006 onwards has seen an especially large increase in mass shootings in the U.S.
A small increase in the frequency of mass shootings can actually be seen around 1984. Before that year, at least going back as far as 1929, there were never more than 2 mass shootings per year, with several years having none at all. But from 1984, in which there were 4 shootings, only 1987 and 1995 had no mass shootings.
On top of this, most mass shootings happen in areas with more gun laws, whereas less gun control tends to reduce the likelihood of a mass shooting. But if not the second amendment, what is the cause of this increase in mass shootings? It would be highly unfair to place all the blame on the increasingly aggressive secular culture, as many mass shootings have been carried out by Islam, but it doesn't seem to be much of a coincidence that as secularism increases, so do mass shootings. Further evidence of this can be seen in the fact that a significant portion of shooters are militant atheists. The Sutherland Springs Church shooter, for example, is well known for his hatred of Christianity. By contrast, diagnosed sociopaths like David Wood have repented of their violent tendencies when a consistent interpretation of the Bible is applied.
If you teach kids that they are nothing but animals, it makes sense that they will see themselves, and their fellow man, as nothing but animals. If society in general can maintain its moral values, the inconsistent nature of human beings might allow Christian morality, such as "thou shalt not murder", to remain ingrained in most people's heads. But with the foundation removed, even the best and most well established moral principles are falling away. We live in a world where political activists are campaigning for the absolute right to murder the most innocent members of society. Where once all you would have to do to convince someone to oppose abortion would be to show them what they're killing, now pro-abortion murderers are admitting that they're fully aware a fetus is fully human with its own rights, yet they now claim that reproductive "rights" supersede the right to life. If we can't protect the most innocent members of society, why can't we kill politicians or Christians or Jews or Muslims or just about anyone we don't like?
By contrast, Christianity preaches a principle that is almost unique: the value of human life. I say almost unique because other religions do preach the value of human life, but only Christianity does so in a defensible manner. Biblically speaking, human life is valuable not just because it's a nice teaching or because of any dogma, but because we are made in the image of God Himself. We're more valuable than the animals we eat, enslave or capture because we are the image bearers of the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth. Not only do we bear His image, but we are also subject to Him and His judgements. Because of that, there are still some justifications for killing, but they are extreme circumstances, and the onus is on the killer to prove they had it. You can't just get up and start firing indiscriminately into a crowd.
What this tells you is that America doesn't need gun control. America needs to bring back Jesus. America needs to thoroughly reject every perverse and violent belief and practice it has adopted as a replacement for sound doctrine and instead return to 1933, when mass shootings were as rare as gun control, and atheism.
