Lyrics
[Verse 1]
He came to this earth, a humble servant1.
With love in his heart, and a purpose determined.
He healed the sick, and gave sight to the blind2.
With every miracle, He showed us He’s divine3.
[Verse 2]
He rose from the dead, with power and might!
Now we’re free from our chains, and walking in His light8!
[Pre-Chorus]
He's the light of the world, He's God’s only Son9,
[Chorus]
All glory to Christ, the true King of Kings12!
Jesus our Savior, the Lord of everything13!
He conquered the grave, He defeated our sin!
So let’s sing and dance, and give praise to Him!
[Verse 2]
He rebuked the Pharisees14, and with every miracle,
He showed that He is truly God, who died upon that Hill.
[Pre-Chorus]
He's the light of the world, He's God’s only Son,
He's the lamb who was slain, but now He has overcome!
[Chorus]
All glory to Christ, the true King of Kings!
Jesus our Savior, the Lord of everything!
He conquered the grave, He defeated our sin!
So let’s sing and dance, and give praise to Him!
[Final Chorus]
All glory to Christ, the true King of Kings!
Raise your voices louder, with the angels let us sing!
The grave has no victory, death has lost its sting19!
So let's sing...
Let's dance...
Let's give praise to Him!
Yeah let's sing and dance and give praise to Him!
Background
"Glory to Christ" is one of the first AI worship songs I ever generated with the Mozart AI app. I loved it so much that I listened to it on repeat for days afterwards. Both the app, and my song-writing skills, have developed significantly since then, so I wanted to make a new version. The original can be seen at the bottom of the page.
The original version was my attempt to test the limits of Mozart AI. Back then, the lyrics tab had not yet been added. The only options were to upload an image, or write out a text-based prompt. After making some fun songs, I wanted to see if I could make some worship songs. At the time, I had partially written a spoof of "Phony King of England" from Disney's Robin Hood. This was actually a "diss track" on the devil, but I thought it would be an extra layer of disrespect if Satan wasn't even allowed to be the centre of his own diss track. So, naturally, the lyrics focused heavily on glorifying Christ instead. I input these as the prompt to see what the app would do.
The results were interesting, but I didn't keep most of them. Instead, I took concepts from the results, and input those instead. The final result was the original version of this song. I loved it, I listened to it regularly, and it's still a great worship track, at least in my opinion. But it's also quite short, with very compact lyrics, so I wanted to expand it while keeping the original lyrics relatively intact. Keeping the tune is sadly impossible, but I can alter the lyrics, and even change the genre. So, that is what I did. I added a pre-chorus, an extra verse, and finally, altered the chorus, giving it a climactic uplift in worship.
One thing I loved about the original version is the way in which it noted Christ's miracles as evidence of His divinity, and I was keen to maintain that theme. So, after giving a nod to His disputes with the Pharisees, I effectively repeated the original line, slightly re-stated. Instead of "with every miracle He showed us He's divine", I added "with every miracle, He showed that He is truly God who died upon that hill". This was followed up with a reference to His resurrection.
The final chorus is altered slightly, which is something I'm trying to do more of with my music. Not that there's anything wrong with a repetitive chorus, as that seems to be the point of having a chorus to begin with. But I find varied choruses give music a "living" feel, especially when they add more powerful content. In this case, rather than encouraging the Church to sing and dance, I've given a nod to the fact that all of Heaven is doing the same. And one day, we won't be joining them at a distance. For us, as Christians, death is not the tragic end of life. It is the doorway to the new one. This means we have a hope that is unique to us. We get everlasting life, our sins forgotten, our future secure, and our God glorified forever.
