The Jew behind the President

As war tends to do, the war against the Islamic regime in Iran has brought out the worst in many people. Anti-Semitism surges, Liberal tears run like rivers, and even many Conservatives fight amongst themselves over exactly how wise this war is.
On top of all this, there are, of course, a lot of conspiracy theories about the Jews. Supposedly, even though the Islamic Regime have been chanting "Death to America" for 47 years, and carrying out attacks to prove they mean it since long before they first struck Israel, it's not America's war. It's Israel's. Trump has been manipulated, bought, or even controlled by the Jews, and America is only fighting the terrorist regime on their behalf. None of this is substantiated, nor is it remotely consistent with Trump's own, prideful character. But according to Scripture, there is one Jew pulling Trump's strings.
First, Daniel 2:21 tells us it is God who raises and deposes kings. The message of Scripture is clear: There is no power without Him. That actually does include the bad ones. Look back at Pharaoh, an indisputably evil king. With his hardened heart, he stubbornly refused to let the Jews go until forced with a heavy hand. But God Himself told him "For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth." (Romans 9:17 cf. Exodus 9:16). These things show us that regardless of exactly how Godly Trump is as a president, God made Donald Trump president.
Jesus is a Jew. In fact, He is the King of the Jews. This was the very charge that hung above His cross! (e.g. Luke 23:38). Jesus is also God. There are scores of Scriptures to prove it. Colossians 2:9 is probably one of the most obvious, telling us that in Him dwells the fullness of Godhead bodily. Proverbs 21:1 tells us that "The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes."
So, Jesus, a Jew, is God. Jesus, a Jew, made Donald Trump president. Jesus, a Jew, has Donald Trump's heart in His hands, guiding it wherever He wants. So which Jew really guided Trump to wage war against Iran?
Originally, this was where I intended to end this article, but it sat in the drafts section waiting to be proofread for quite some time. Since then, Pope Leo XIV made some very interesting comments about "warmongers". Now of course, I'm not Catholic, so the word of the Pope means as much to me as the word of Dallin H. Oaks. Both are false prophets devoid of any authority. However, even when they say blatantly false things, it can still be useful to discuss it.
I was most amused by a headline from the Babylon Bee: "Pope Leo Explains God Does Not Listen To People Who Wage War So Long As You Don’t Count Moses, David, Joshua, Elijah, Saul, Gideon, Samson, Or Anyone Else In Bible". This was a fairly standard response. Even those who criticise the war itself were quick to point out the same thing. If you know your Bible, you know that the Lord Himself identifies as a Man of war (Exodus 15:3). Many of the greatest triumphs in the Bible concern great victories in battle. The blood of the wicked dripped from the swords of God's bravest warriors. God even took the credit, and often got angry when His enemies were spared (which, ultimately, came back to bite Israel later on).
But I'm going to take a different approach. We all know God's faithful servants were very much unafraid to fight for a Holy cause. It's quite unusual, however, to point to Nebuchadnezzar. Not just because it's really really hard to spell, but because Nebuchadnezzar was as pagan as pagan could be. Not that he never honored the Lord with his lips. But a pagan he was, and it's not clear from either Scripture or the external record that he ever repented. Yet, God Himself calls Nebuchadnezzar "my servant" (Jeremiah 27:6; 43:10).
Donald Trump is, undoubtedly, a very flawed human being (though try claiming you're not). But it seems nigh impossible to doubt that he is also God's servant. Is he a Christian? Truthfully, while it's hard to judge, I would say probably not. He seems to have a works-based gospel, having previously stated that he doesn't seek God's forgiveness, and that he's worried he isn't good enough to get into Heaven. But regardless of whether or not he is a Christian, he is absolutely God's servant.
First, we can return to the fact that there is no power apart from God. It's littered throughout Scripture. We've already discussed Daniel 2:21 (which, incidentally, was written during the reign of Nebuchadnezzar). Romans 13:1-7 tells us all authority comes from God. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 says it is good and acceptable to God to pray for all those who are in authority. As we've pointed to already, in Exodus 9:16, God even speaks directly to Pharaoh, telling him "for this reason I have raised you up...", which Romans 9:17 reiterates. Even Pilate, when he boasts of his authority to Jesus, is reminded "You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above." (John 19:11). If no power exists without God, then Donald Trump's power comes from God.
But second, regardless of Trump's own personal status with God, he is undoubtedly doing the Lord's work. Remember how Kamala Harris mocked her Christian heckler, telling him "you're at the wrong rally" when he declared "Christ is king"? How many "hate speech" laws would be passed under a Democrat administration? You only need to look across the Northern border, to Canada, to answer that question. Or maybe look at my own country, where the police have only recently ceased to investigate "non-crime hate incidents". I remember how sheepish Keir Starmer looked when a reporter asked Trump about his plans to censor Truth Social. The fear in that tyrant's eyes was a beautiful sight.
Finally, of course there's the whole Israel issue. I know that's going to upset many on the "other side", but theologically speaking, God is absolutely not finished with the nation of Israel. Not the genetic descendants of Abraham, or the land He promised they would inherit forever. Donald Trump is the sword the Lord is using to eliminate one of their biggest threats.
To be clear, I'm not speaking prophetically here. I'm going by what has happened in the verifiable past, what is happening in the present, and the logical "next steps" that are likely to happen if things continue as they are. Lord forbid it, but Donald Trump may not outlast the war. There are a billion things that could go wrong between now and then. But he could also win. He has the military power. He has the moral justification. He's even causing Hell's armies to throw one heck of a tantrum. Whenever you have the Far Left, the Far Right, the Muslims, and even the Catholics, all collectively raging against one thing, you know Satan is having a bad day.
So my response to Pope Leo isn't just "actually, Godly men may wage war". It's that even ungodly men, like Nebuchadnezzar, may well be worthy of the title "God's servant". God gave him the authority. God gave him the power. God directed his heart. It's even fair to assume God has used him as an answer to the prayers of the Iranians.
So now it's our turn. The war is happening whether we agree with it or not, but the Lord does command us this: "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:1-4).
So what do we do? Make supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving for Trump while he is in authority. Why? Because it's currently his job to ensure that Americans may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all Godliness and reverence. And using the most powerful military the world has ever known, he's actually helping other nations do the same! How much greater will Iran be when it is free of its Islamic oppressors, and our brethren may legally worship openly, and in peace? How much more peaceful will the world be when the largest state sponsor of terror is no longer sponsoring terrorists? How much faster will the avalanche of apostasy get when Muslims of all denominations realise no matter how devout they are, Allah is not on their side?
So my brethren, let us pray. Let us pray for peace in the Middle East (because we worship the God who is more than capable of achieving such a miracle). Let us pray for the safety of the troops, who risk their lives to preserve ours. Let us pray for wisdom for all world leaders, be they good or evil, so that the powers the Lord has given them may be used for good. Let us even pray for their salvation, because this is what the King of the Jews has commanded us to do.
