Theistic Evolution is Capoeira

It goes without saying that if you own slaves, the last thing you want is for them to learn how to beat you half to death in an escape attempt. This is a fact Brazilian slave owners knew only too well, so they forbade their slaves from practising any form of martial arts.

Unlike horses and oxen, humans are intelligent creatures, so the slaves came up with an ingenious solution. They weren't allowed to practice martial arts, but they were allowed to practice dancing. Thus, Capoeira was born. Capoeira is a martial art that specialises in disguising its techniques as dance moves. Some of these techniques are extremely dangerous, sometimes even lethal. In other words, sometimes, the biggest threats are the things that don't look like threats at all.

Just like Capoeira, Evolution specialises in stealth. Rather than flat out admitting it is designed as an alternative to Creationism, Evolutionists call Evolution a scientific fact. The problem is, "science" and "religion" are charged words. People are extremely critical of anything that is called "religion", but are far less critical of anything that is called "science". If Evolutionists admitted Evolution was a religion (like Michael Ruse eventually did), Evolution would not have even half the stronghold on the culture as it does now, but because it is labelled as "science", most people don't even blink twice before accepting it as fact. In fact, I dare say that even some of the world's most competent scientists have not given Evolution any intelligent thought.

But of course, the Bible is labelled as religion (because it actually is), and so people are naturally sceptical of it. And it takes about 5 pages of the Bible to prove it doesn't agree with Evolution. Now, if people are sceptical of anything called religion, like the Bible, not sceptical of anything called science, like Evolution, and capable of reading the Bible to see it's contrary to Evolution, what are they likely to do? Dismiss the Bible out of hand, of course!

But although people are less sceptical of anything called science and more sceptical of anything called religion, this isn't too much of a problem as long as that scepticism is healthy. If they have accepted Evolution without thinking about it, they have accepted Evolution without thinking about it, and so when a Christian who has thought about it approaches them and encourages them to think about it, they might actually discover that Evolution is a load of trash. There is a wide range of evidence for the Bible, including evidence for Creationism, so all it really takes to convince someone to believe the Bible is well thought out apologetics. We do not need to compromise, and that compromise actually has the adverse effect: It tells the unbeliever that not even the Christians believe the Bible, and so why should they? Stop the compromise, because Theistic Evolution is like Capoeira. It looks harmless, but it can deliver a kick strong enough to break every bone in your body.
