Christianity is a very well evidenced faith. We have evidence from every academic field, and most Christians will have their own personal experiences as well. But what we don't currently have is a visibly present God. I can't walk up to an atheist and say "here He is, now believe." I can't go to a lab with a bottle of God. I can't go to an observatory and point a telescope at God. I can't take you on a tour through Heaven. Ultimately, there are some things I know are real, but I can't prove directly. They must be accepted on faith.
Evolutionists will never say what I just said about their faith, but the fact remains that the same can be said about Evolution. There is "evidence" for Evolution. Not in the sense that the facts might actually lead one to conclude Evolution is true, but there are some facts which would at least fit Evolution if it was true. But just as you cannot see God, you also cannot see Evolution. You can't show a Christian Evolution and say "here it is, now believe." You can't show us a bottle of Evolution. You can't point a telescope at Evolution. You can't take us on a tour through millions of years. Evolutionists, whether they like it or not, are in the same faith based boat as Christians.
When two theists debate each other, you won't see one say to the other "can you show me your God?" You'll see them trying to explain why the faith they both admit they have is better placed in their god than the other Theist's god. But Evolutionists won't admit they have faith, because the faith itself is an especially crazy one. A lot of people find it far fetched even while it is called "science", and it has been my experience that a lot of, maybe even most "low level" (i.e. inexperienced in apologetics) Evolutionists only believe it because it is often called science. That is why the most common argument is scientific consensus.
From time to time, Evolutionists do admit that Evolution is a religion. Michael Ruse, for example. But the majority of their time is dedicated to convincing the public that it is a scientific fact. Without this extreme effort, Evolution would just be one more strange belief held by an extremely small minority. People wouldn't put up with it if they hadn't been conned into it from a young age, and Evolutionists will even occasionally admit that, too. But whether it is admitted or not, the fact is Evolution does require faith.
The problem isn't that it is based on faith, but that that faith is misplaced. Evolution is totally worthless. It doesn't contribute anything good, prevent anything bad, and it even removes the standard for what exactly good and bad are. Aside from all of that, it isn't true. It's just one more lie designed to separate man from our Creator.
As a Christian, I am confident enough in my faith to admit that it is faith. And there is literally nothing wrong with that. We live by faith every day. We even have faith that we will see tomorrow, but the morbid truth is any number of things could go wrong to prevent that. The security that the Christian faith offers is that even if we die tonight, we have a future that extends forever.
See, the God we currently cannot see once walked among men, in a physical body much like ours. Jesus did His miracles publicly, Jesus was killed publicly, Jesus was seen alive publicly. I have faith that the men who were willing to die for this testimony weren't lying, or deceived, or delusional. If Jesus really did rise from the dead, then we, who have violated God's laws, can be forgiven for such treason. Not only that, but we can receive an inheritance in His everlasting Kingdom, where we shall live with Him forever.
So let us compare the two great faiths. On the one hand, you have Evolution. Evolution is an irrational and fruitless faith. It is absurd on multiple levels, it presents futile arguments, it provides no earthly benefits, it is completely false, it wouldn't matter if it was true, and because it is false, it only leads to eternal punishment. On the other hand, you have Christianity. Christianity is an entirely rational faith, which, while it has some elements that are difficult to believe, at the very least does not ask you to forego the use of your senses. The arguments for Christianity are so powerful, an honest investigation often leads hardened sceptics to the faith. It provides good fruit in this life, and even though loss is a high possibility, it promises an even greater repayment in the next. Not only is it true, but the reward for accepting it as true is literally greater than can be imagined. Tell me, in what universe could a rational human being accept Evolution over Christianity?
