If there's one question you don't want to ask an Evolutionist, it's "why do we still have monkeys"? But did you know some of them actually ask the same question of Christians? According to the argument, God should not have made apes because they're too much like us, and that gives the appearance of Evolution. Three problems:
1. No it doesn't.
2. We already know Evolutionists are brilliant at making up stories without transitions, so why would a lack of apes matter?
3. Where, in the Bible, does it say God can't create whatever He wants according to His good pleasure?
No it doesn't.
As we know from our own creations, common design does not imply common descent. The point is often made that you can arrange human designs (especially vehicles) into the same sort of nested hierarchies as you can with animals. You can start with a unicycle up to a bicycle to a motorcycle to a quad bike to a jeep and so on, right the way up to a space shuttle. But although some Evolutionists are desperate enough to claim that actually, technology does "evolve", only the biggest of trolls will deny that intelligent design is a fact when it comes to man made objects.
So why should God be any different? Why should God reinvent the wheel every time He wants to create a new species? If "common design = common designer" makes sense when talking about man made objects, why not God made objects?
Still missing the links
To this day, the geological record still does not reveal a fine and gradual change from one species to the next. The fossil record shows no Evolution what so ever. I'd even like to take a moment to give a shout out to the page Where is the evolution?, which regularly shares a number of examples of fossilised organisms which show no Evolution before or since their supposed origin. The fossil record shows the Creationist orchard, not the Evolutionist tree. In other words, Evolutionists cling to Evolution in spite of the lack of evidence. Who's to say they wouldn't do the same if apes did not exist? It would just be one more missing link out of quite literally billions. Or, as Darwin put it, there should be innumerable transitional forms. What's one more missing link? Who knows, maybe they'd be asking why God made squirrels if He didn't want us believing in Evolution.
Why not?
But why shouldn't God have created such brilliant creatures? As an animal lover, I happen to be quite fond of apes and monkeys. I'm glad He created them, and although if He didn't create them I would never have developed enough of a love for them to miss them in their absence, as it stands I would be quite upset if, hypothetically, He sent a prophet to tell us He would be erasing them from history just to satiate the stubborn voices of a few 21st century rebels.
Now, if I, as a mere human, love the apes so much, is it not logical that their Creator is also rather pleased with them? Remember, on day 6, God saw all that He had made, including the apes, and declared it "very good". He loves the apes, and I don't think it's even remotely fair to say that because people, who would rebel against Him anyway, use apes in that rebellion, therefore He should deny both the human race and Himself the pleasure of knowing such wondrous animals. If you're of the opinion that He should have, feel free to send me an email. I will reply with a list of all the foods you are required to eat, and foods you are not allowed to eat. After all, if you are so audacious as to believe you have the authority to force your opinions on God Himself, why should I not be allowed to force my opinions on you?
The similarities between man and apes are often used in a desperate attempt to explain our origins without God, but the truth is, it fails miserably. But the attempt itself is a reminder that man, as a species, has fallen from grace. But grace has not fallen from us. 6,000 years ago, God made man in His image, but 2,000 years ago, God made His Son in the image of man. Jesus Christ, fully human, was conceived by the virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit, and He lived a perfect human life, free of sin. He was then publicly executed in the most painful way known to man, facing the full wrath of God on our behalf. After His death, He rose again, proving beyond all reasonable doubt that He is the Creator. He made apes, and He made you. And He loves you, enough to die for you. Now all you have to do to be forgiven of your sins is confess Him as Lord and believe that He rose. Will you accept that free gift?
